Esper
All psychics temper their mind in different ways, although some understand that the mind is only one component of their practice. Instead of empowering their own psionic magic, espers possess a natural knack for the occult, and can even weave the two practices together.
Trade Tradition
If this is this character’s first level in any class, the esper may select a trade tradition of their choice, and have an adroit trade rank.
This replaces the psychic’s normal class skills.
Skill Expertise (Ex)
The esper is a Trained operative, gaining skill spheres and talents as described in Using Spheres of Guile.
This replaces phrenic amplifications.
Occult Knowledge
At 1st level, the esper gains the Occultism sphere as a bonus skill sphere.
At 4th level and every 4 levels thereafter, the esper gains an additional Occultism sphere talent as a bonus talent. The esper can replace any number of these talents whenever she gets a full 8 hours of rest (although they cannot be used to meet prerequisites).
This replaces discipline spells.
Esper’s Amplifications
At 3rd level, the esper gains the following ways she can use her phrenic pool:
- Cognizant Invocation: The esper can spend three points from her phrenic pool whenever she uses enact ritual to have its use ignore the talent’s daily limit.
- Phrenic Empowerment: The esper can spend up to three points from her phrenic pool whenever she uses enact ritual to add an equal number of ritual power to the ceremony or rite.
This replaces detect thoughts.
Blessed Conduit
At 9th level, whenever the esper uses the enact ritual sphere ability, she gains the evasion ability as well as a +20-foot enhancement bonus to her base movement speed for 1 hour. The duration of this ability is cumulative with each use.
This replaces telepathic bond
Power From Within
At 17th level, the esper can spend two points from her phrenic pool as a standard action to choose a single ceremony or rite she can produce. The esper gains the benefits of the chosen ceremony or rite as a constant effect (or otherwise can use it any number of times per day with no limit, but it can only affect the esper).
The esper can only benefit from one ceremony or rite created this way.
This replaces telepathy.
Greater Training
The esper can choose to lose the spells class feature to gain a magic or skill talent at the same rate as a Virtuoso operative, and determines her caster level as though she were a High-Caster. She may not take this option if possessing an archetype that would alter or replace the spells class feature.
