Courtly Tactician (Commander Archetype)
Every good lord’s war room staffs the finest tactical minds and genius, strategists able to carefully plan their next move
Alignment: A courtly tactician must be monarchist. A courtly tactician who is no longer a monarchist cannot take additional levels in this class.
Well-Mapped Specialty (Ex): The courtly tactician does not select specific terrains. Instead, the courtly tactician may spend 24 hours (which may include traveling, resting, and other light activity) while within a terrain to prepare for that terrain, treating it as a selected terrain for the battlefield specialist ability. The courtly tactician may only have a single prepared terrain this way.
At 9th level, the courtly tactician need only spend 8 hours to prepare for a terrain. The courtly tactician may now prepare for a terrain by using a map (or similar aide) as a reference to that type of terrain.
At 15th level, the courtly tactician need only spend 1 hour to prepare for a terrain.
This alters battlefield specialist.
Field Policies (Ex): At 7th level, as a move action, the courtly tactician may gain the benefits of a single kingking courtier for 1 hour per courtly tactician level (excluding body doubles). The courtly tactician may use this ability once per day, plus 1 additional time every 6 levels thereafter. If the courtly tactician uses this ability to select a courtier while already benefiting from this ability, the previous selection is lost (and any related benefits end).
For the purposes of courtiers, the courtly tactician treats their effective kingking level as equal to half their courtly tactician level and uses their practitioner modifier as their nobility ability modifier.
This replaces logistic specialty.
Special – Future Kingking: The courtly tactician uses the greater of their effective kingking level and their actual kingking level when determining the effects of a courtier ability granted by field policies. If the courtly tactician would have the same courtier twice, they use the higher of their effective kingking level and actual kingking level to determine its effects.
For example, a courtly tactician 10 / kingking 2 would have an effective kingking level of 5 and actual kingking level of 2, so their effective kingking level for courtiers selected using field policies would be 5.
