Cantor Hymns
The following cantor hymns are not appropriate for the Aethera Campaign Setting but may be selected by cantors in other settings which use the corresponding planes
Aligned Ring Hymn [SM—]
Source: Baron's Otherworldly Citadel
Plane: Outer Planes
Class Skill: Appraise
Spells: protection from chaos/evil/good/law (1st), align weapon (2nd), magic circle against chaos/evil/good/law (3rd), ardor’s onslaught/chaos hammer/holy smite/order’s wrath/unholy blight (4th), dispel balance/chaos/evil/good/law (5th), arbitrament/blasphemy/dictum/holy word/word of chaos (6th). All of these spells are granted to a cantor who select this hymn
Invocation of the Outer Ring (Divine Performance): The cantor shrouds her allies in the essence of an aligned plane. When the cantor starts this performance, she chooses an alignment. For the purpose of effects targeting them, the cantor’s affected allies may treat themselves as being either their normal alignment or the cantor’s chosen alignment.
Dissonance of the Soul (Hymn Verse): The cantor calls upon a well of planar influence to assault a creature within 30 feet with metaphysical reckoning. The target suffers a -2 penalty to their caster level and to Intelligence-, Wisdom-, and Charisma-based checks for 1 minute. A successful Will save reduces this duration to 1 round.
Canticle of Impossibility (Greater Hymn Verse): The cantor’s verse brings about a sudden flash of cosmic excellence to aid an ally. As an immediate action, the cantor can grant an ally a sacred bonus equal to half her level on a single d20 roll. This verse can only be used during the cantor’s divine performance.
Shield of Cosmic Purpose (Superior Hymn Verse): The cantor can use this verse only during a divine performance. All allies within 30 feet become immune to attempts to possess or exercise mental control over them as per protection from evil and treat any bonuses gained from divine performance as sacred bonuses in place of their normal type.
Astral Hymn [SM—]
Source: Baron's Otherworldly Citadel
Plane: Astral Plane
Class Skill: Use Magic Device
Spells: mage armor (1st), detect thoughts (2nd), seek thoughts (3rd), dimension door (4th), teleport (5th), greater teleport (6th)
Tranquility of the Silver Void (Divine Performance): The cantor’s chant allows listeners to center themselves in the endless waves of thought and ideation. All allies within 30 feet gain a +1 morale bonus on Will saving throws and Wisdom-based skill checks. At 5th level and every four levels thereafter, these bonuses increase by 1.
Refrain of Timeless Memory (Hymn Verse): You enshroud the target in the cosmic recollection of the astral plane. The target may make a single Knowledge check to recall knowledge even if they are untrained, treating the result as if they had rolled a 20.
Bridge of Eternal Flow (Greater Hymn Verse): You may use this hymn as an immediate action as part of casting a spell or creating a hymn that has a non-instantaneous duration. The duration of the spell or hymn is doubled. A given spell or hymn can only be affected by this hymn once per day.
Choir of Cosmic Genesis (Superior Hymn Verse): Once per day, the cantor can use either the create demiplane spell. Any demiplane created with this ability becomes permanent until the next time the cantor creates a new demiplane with this ability. At 18th level, this improves to greater create demiplane.
Erroneous Non-Plane Hymn [SM—]
Source: Baron’s Secluded Library
Plane: The Erroneous Non-Plane
Class Skill: Autohypnosis
Spells: aphasia (1st), enshroud thoughts (2nd), mad sultan’s melody (3rd), untold wonder (4th), subjective reality (5th), sequester (6th)
Adagio of Settled Reality (Divine Performance): The cantor's song inhibits the arcane forces which could crack the foundations of reality. Enemies within 30 feet of the cantor treat their caster levels and MSBs (and thus MSDs) as 1 lower when calculating caster level-dependent effects and for the purposes of dispelling attempts (minimum 0). Creatures with a caster level of 0 or lower cannot create magic sphere effects. Targets do not suffer any penalties outside of those related to caster levels, MSB, and MSD (for example, level dependent class abilities are not reduced in power). At 5th level and every 4 levels thereafter, the penalty increases by 1. At 5th level, the penalty also applies to the spell resistance of enemies.
Moderato of Eased Senses (Hymn Verse): The cantor keeps the target safe from mental intrusion or destabilization. The target may ignore the effects of any severances or mind-affecting effects for one minute. Any effects with a longer duration resume when this verse ends.
Larghetto of Dimensional Sealing (Greater Hymn Verse): The cantor projects a beam that entraps a target along hidden dimensions as the dimensional anchor spell. At 12th level, an affected creature become corporeal for the duration, losing any and all ethereal or incorporeal special abilities or defenses they had (this includes the special ability to become ethereal). If the target lacks a corporeal body, it assume a form of ectoplasm of the same size and shape, effectively identical to its incorporeal form (except that it is corporeal).
Caesura of Merciful Abandonment (Superior Hymn Verse): The cantor excises the target from the collective memory of existence. When a creature dies within 30 feet of the cantor, she may spend an immediate action to wipe the creature from cosmic memory. Any memories including that target are revised such that no creature which can be affected by mind-affecting effects ever recalls the target’s existence, their memories being revised as per the modify memory spell (this effect functions even across planes). This does not stop the creature from being resurrected. You can choose to exempt any number of creatures from the memory revisions of this hymn.
Lost Places Hymn [SM—]
Source: Baron’s Secluded Library
Plane: Any plane that seems disconnected from the other planes, is thought to be unreachable, or has its existence up for debate among planar scholars.
Class Skill: Escape Artist
Spells: sanctuary (1st), invisibility (2nd), nondetection (3rd), etheric shards (4th), contact other plane (5th), phasic challenge (6th)
Resonance of Exposed Geometries (Divine Performance): The cantor thins the planar fabric of the local region, leaving enemies vulnerable to attacks from angles that didn’t previously exist. All enemies within 30 feet take a -1 penalty to AC and saving throws. This penalty increases by 1 for every 6 levels the cantor possesses. A successful Fortitude save (DC = 10 + 1/2 cantor level + Wisdom modifier) renders the target immune to that cantor's resonance of exposed geometries for 24 hours.
March of Planar Transgression (Hymn Verse): The cantor can use this verse as a free action when beginning a divine performance. For the duration of the performance, creatures in the area of the divine performance roll twice on the next d% roll each of them makes as part of a spell and gain a +2 morale bonus to caster level checks and MSB checks made against other magic effects.
Cadenza of Grasped Impossibility (Greater Hymn Verse): The cantor reworks the cosmic context of a creature within 30 feet. Unless the target succeeds at a Will save, they lose all immunities they possess for 1 minute.
Convergence of All Localities (Superior Hymn Verse): The cantor can use this verse once per day and only during a divine performance. The cantor draws upon every theoretical connection of the planes and unify them in a single location that harnesses all of their potential. The cantor gains a 30-foot aura around herself in which gains any alignment traits, essence traits, gravity traits, and magic traits the cantor desires. The area can contain any number of these traits, including contradictory ones (such as being both evil-aligned and good-aligned). All creatures in the area become corporeal for 24 hours, losing any and all ethereal or incorporeal special abilities or defenses they had (this includes the special ability to become ethereal). If the target lacks a corporeal body, it assume a form of ectoplasm of the same size and shape, effectively identical to its incorporeal form (except that it is corporeal).
Metal Hymn [SM—]

Riff of the Iron Man (Hymn Verse): The cantor fortifies the bodies of allies with encircling metallic barriers. All allies within 30 feet gain temporary hit points equal to the cantor’s level that last for the duration of the performance. These temporary hit points are replenished every time the cantor continues her performance.
Trooper’s Staccato (Hymn Verse): The cantor can use this verse as a free action when beginning a divine performance. Weapons of allies in the area of divine performance count as silver and cold iron for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction and regeneration. At 8th level, such weapons also count as adamantine for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction, hardness, and regeneration.
Chains on the Sacred Heart (Greater Hymn Verse): The cantor weighs down a target with a heavy burden. For as long as the performance continues, the creature becomes entangled and functions as if encumbered by a heavy load. A successful Fortitude save reduces the duration of this effect to 1 round.
Swell of the Metal Gods (Superior Hymn Verse): The cantor can use this verse only during a divine performance. A targeted ally within range of the divine performance is affected by the iron body spell for the duration of the performance. At 18th level, you may apply this effect to up to two allies.
