Archmage
Master of All Arcane Arts
The archmage begins with a single sphere selected to gain the benefits of a single sphere specialization of his choice, chosen normally from the list of specializations. Each time he rests and regains his spell points, he may choose to change the specialization to another; losing the benefits of the first, including the bonus talent or sphere gained from selecting the specialization.
The archmage never gains the 20th level ability from choosing a sphere specialization.
This replaces the bonus feat gained at 1st, 2nd, 6th, 12th, 14th, 18th and 20th level.
Manabound Education
The archmage must select the Mana sphere with the bonus magic talent gained at 1st level.
This alters the bonus magic talent gained at 1st level.
Tutor
Starting 1st level, the archmage may select a single willing creature to be considered his student by spending 1 minute of time quickly lecturing them on magical arts. He may change his student once per day after resting to regain spell points. The archmage may create a manabond with his student as a free action by spending 1 spell point, and increases his Mana sphere caster level by 1 when determining the effects of any manabonds or (amp) effects that target his student.
At 4th level, the student gains access to the archmage’s specialization ability. This grants the student a +1 bonus to their caster level and the sphere as a bonus sphere. If the student already possesses the sphere they instead gain the same talent selected by the archmage, or a different talent within that sphere if they already possess that talent. If the talent may be taken multiple times, the student may choose whether to select that talent or another if they have already taken it. If the student already has the same specialization as the archmage (such as from their own incanter levels, or another archmage), they gain no benefits from this ability.
Additionally, the student is treated as if they were the archmage for the purpose of their specialization ability. This grants the student any passive benefits from the ability, and allows them to use the ability (using the archmage’s level and casting ability modifier). For abilities that grant subordinates or the ability to create them, the student instead shares that subordinate, treating them as one of their owners and gaining any benefits from commanding them that the archmage does (such as the +4 bonus on Handle Animal checks with an animal companion, or handling them as a free action). Any uses of such abilities draw from the archmage’s maximum uses per day, and the student cannot utilize the ability if the archmage has no remaining uses.
Beginning at 8th level, whenever the archmage forms a manabond with his student, he may apply the effects of two (manabond) talents, rather than just one.
This replaces the bonus feats gained at 8th and 16th level.
Private Studies
The archmage may still gain a single specialization point. If he does, he does not gain a bonus feat at 4th and 12th level.
Perfect Educator
At 20th level, archmage can have multiple students at a time, up to a number equal to his casting ability modifier.
